Principle Tasks: Moving the two gooseberry bushes I was given last year by my allotment neighbour who works at a local fruit nursery ('Hedgehog' and 'Guys Seedling') and planting out the additional 'Invicta' variety that I brought on the 4th of January from the now-closed garden centre. Planting out the Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) and the Salad Burnet (Sanguisorba minor) that I brought the other day, into the perimeter L-bed. Plus, into the same bed, a small clump of snowdrops (Galanthus nivalis) that I was also given.

Hey Tim ,
the seedlings are looking good.
The plot looks good to me Tim and the Hyacinth keeps on going :o)
Here with us the weather is bad -it keeps on raining.
My very best Regards
Rita :o)
Thanks Rita!
> the Hyacinth keeps on going :o)
She sure does! I was tempted today to 'deadhead her', but then thought to myself that she has another day or two left in her :o)
> it keeps on raining.
Every other day here. Which I guess means the same - the soil doesn't get to dry out at all = mud :o(
Very best regards also,
Tim :o)x
Hi Jimmy. Before I forget (which regrettably could well unintentionably be the case at present - due to life, and the time it takes for me to write my main posts) let me answer your recent querie which sticks in my mind - my sweet peas!
Yes, last year I found that the their tap roots came quickly to the bottom of the toilet rolls that I planted them in, so this time around I managed to double them up, lengthening them to a good 6 inches or so. Hopefully by the time I've hardened them off (hopefully starting over the next couple of days) they shouldn't be too long to be easily damagable.
I'm disappointed though that so far only 5 out of the 11 seeds that I planted have germinated - very possibly because this year I followed the advice on the packet itself, and didn't bother to pre-soak, or chip them :o( I've more left to sow though - if I don't forget, that is :o)
Glad to here that your winter has so far been a mild one, and that the signs of an early spring are good.
Best Regards,
Tim :o)x
PS. Yes, there's lots of action going on around the allotments - one chap's already got his tatties planted!
