The Origins of Allotments
As recently requested, click on the above 'Origins of Allotments' title to be taken to a site which explains them far better than I ever could. Ours, here in Faversham, date from when the nearby housing estate was built (sometime between the wars - around 1930, at a guess). The slowly-diminishing line of popular trees, which today still surround two sides of the site, possibly indicates that the field was previously an orchard?

Hi Rita! Enysham does look to be a lovely little town (in West Oxfordshire, as I finally managed to work out). The more I look at that second pic down on my original link, the more I think it's an uncanny vision of how I wish my plot to look come summer - let's hope so, eh?! :o)

PS. They certainly got more snow in Enysham than we got here in Faversham - mayhaps due to us being closer to that continental warmth? :o)
