I love the butterflys. Your allotment reminds me of old times. I was lucky enough to live in a small village in Oxfordshire back in the 80's. We had a lovely allotment. I can almost taste the leeks.
Enjoy,
Kat

Cheers Jimmy. I wasn't sure if I'd get any new comments for a while.

The 'slight frost' turned out to be just another weather forecast exaggeration (Unfortunately we seem to get our fair share of these since the 'hurricane' of '87 - these days they like to 'cover their bases') :-)

> the first goose has started its journey south already

Could you give me the url to the website again (I lost it when I got a new pc)? :-(

Cycling in the highlands - I take my hat off to you!

Ants. I've so far identified three species on the plot (The Black, Red, and Red Wood). My first love (Musically) were 'Adam & The Ants', so I've a soft spot for them :-)

Another 'off-on' season (Sunshine-wise). A good one for potatoes, tomatoes (Surprisingly) and marrows/squashes, but not for onions (Poor compared to last year).

Thanks again for looking back into the blog!

Cheers Kat! Your blog looks great - one for my reading list!

Hi Jimmy. An early morning reply - another of those 'insomnia sign-ons'.

Hope you enjoyed your talk on bees and wasps - I recently came across instructions on building a bumblebee home from old straw (Preferably from a discarded mouse nest) and an upturned flowerpot - definitely one to try in the future.

Ants. Yes, I was premature there (Looking only at what I've so far tagged under Ant). The two I've photos for are:

The Black or Garden Ant Lasius niger and the Red Wood Ant Formica rufa. Both only 90% id certainty though.

Myrmica rubra is the common Red Ant that I often see (and try hard to avoid it's stings) but I've not yet photographed it.

Adam Adament. The name's familiar but I can't put a face or 'sound' to it.

I'm hoping to do some work on the pond later today. Hopefully photos will follow.

Sadly, I do think that I might of lost Rita. Unfortunately my ongoing battle against alcoholism resulted in my treating her somewhat shabbily over the summer. For this I'm heartedly sorry, but unfortunately haven't as yet found the courage to email her - rejection/emotional pain being the worst enemy of recovering alcoholics.

Cheers,
Tim
