Hi Tim, (I've heard of an early spring) I hope it but I am afraid it wil be a late Winter :o(
The first pic of the Dwarf Snow Lady is amazing and so ful of buds :o) Your Hyacinth is also amazing for January - I think it's a pink one. Behind the Hyacinths are that Carnations?
A friend of me have little birds in here garden how crazy is that?
(Principle Task: Planting out the seven herbaceous perennials as mentioned above - a fast worker, I ain't! :o) ) Count count .... thats 20 min. each :o) :o)
Yes, that reminds me of that quotation I have over on my (long-neglected) care2 profile:
"I went to see how Bill was getting along. He is a very good workman. I have often wished I could give the same finish to a piece of gardening as he does. Of course, he is not quick, but I have come to the conclusion that you can't do a good job quickly. When I plant anything the bed shows it, when Bill plants there isn't a sign that the earth has been disturbed" Norah C. James (from Cottage Angles c.1935).
One of my all-time favourites!
> The hyacinths may have been heat treated for indoor forcing
Hi Jimmy. I think I remember that the chap who gave me the bulbs got them from the council tip-off pile (the local authority contractors have a key to the site, and dump all their has-beens) so I'd be surprised if it was an indoor one, but you might be right. I definately remember planting them at the same depth.
> I see you are making the most of it while it is there.
I'm certainly having a good go, ain't I? :o) According to the till-lady I spoke to, it closes on the 28th :o(
> I have no doubt the weather will sort itself out soon enough.
Let's hope so - but looking at that pic of the whitebeam that I posted tonight, with it's two plane trails in the sky, I'm one of those who's fast losing hope that it's anything but man-caused :o( I'd much rather content myself with 2" diameter onions :o)
> like I promised here is my new blog
Cheers Rita! I'll be sure to follow its/your progress!
With the very best regards to the both of you, Tim n' Hugs :o)x
