I'm worried over the next down of the blackcurrants. Like it's neighbour I cut down last year, I think it may have a virus.

Principle Tasks: Pruning blackcurrants. Dropping off green kitchen waste for composting.
# 1731# 1730How two of the three blackcurrant bushes looked before (top) and after (bottom) pruning. I decided to prune them less hard than last year.

My New Friend

# 1317# 1316I'm pretty sure that this little fellow is the Black Snail Beetle (Silpha atrata) so-named for it's liking of having snails for it's supper - good chap, eh?!

# 1315# 1314I may well of got 'clipper happy' pruning the first of the blackcurrants.

Principle Tasks: Pruning the blackcurrant and gooseberry bushes. Mulching over the asparagus bed with a 2.5cm (approx) layer of B&Q 'Soil Improver'. Adding same to gate end of border bed.
