One Down?
# 1147.10
I've a bad feeling that I've lost one of the asparagus (or should that be asparagi?) Only one of the two crowns nearest the globe artichoke at the top of the picture has so far put up a spear. Are they incompatible, or is it only that the artichoke is taking up more moisture from the soil?

The 'Epicure' potatoes are all looking good though. My finger's are crossed that frosty mornings are behind us.

How the 'slope end' of the wildlife pond appears now I've decided to go for it (Notice the new label below).

The seedlings I brought up from home today. Clockwise from top left: 7 Spinach 'Medania', 3 Carrot 'Parmex', and 5 Lettuce 'Ice King'.

The 'Sturon' onions in veg bed 01 seem to be doing okay.

First Spuds In!
# 1098.21
How they looked prior to planting 10cm deep into the top end of veg bed 01. The original 6 'Epicure' (Unfortunately they had sold out when I went back to buy more) and 2 'Laura' (Organic baby 'news' reduced for quick sale at my local Tescos) Ideal to fill out the gaps!
# 1098.20
Nice and snug! I'll be sure to mulch them with garden compost when they begin to show through.
# 1098.19
Back at home. How the three white hibiscus seedlings looked yesterday prior to potting up. Better still - two of the purples are now showing!

Notes From Home 03/03/08
I brought six each of the following:
Potato 'Epicure' 1st Early
Potato 'Estima' 2nd Early
Potato 'Maris Piper' Early Maincrop
Potato 'Saxon' 2nd Early
Potato 'Sharpes Express' 1st Early
Potato 'International Kidney' Maincrop?
Total cost of around three pound fifty (I forgot to get a receipt). I've an embarrassing return visit to the the shop tomorrow, as I've since decided that I need eight of each (3 : 2 : 3 per bed space). I stood the ones I have already on my bathroom windowsill to 'chit'.
PS. Big thanks to Rita for the gift that arrived in the post this morning!
