# 1363# 1362I'm really pleased with the quality of the compost in the first bin of the year to be turned out. I had to sieve it though to remove the larger bits (See in second photo). Notice also the spotted deadnettle (Lamium maculatum) in the top photo. Looking good I think.

# 1361How the compost looks as a 7cm mulch on the border L-bed.

# 1360One of the oriental hyacinths (Hyacinthus orientalis) in flower along the bed. Here growing through the golden marjoram (Origanum vulgare 'Aureum Crispum').

# 1359My annual 'fingers-crossed' over whether or not the elfin herb (Cuphea hyssopifolia) has made it over the winter.

# 1358The rhubarb's made it again though!

Total Allotment Time: 2 hrs.
Principle Tasks: Sieving compost and adding as a mulch to the gate end of the border herb and flower bed.

Principle Task: Forking over soil in preparation of beginning construction of third timber-edged veg bed. 'Tickling' in the rest of the garden compost I applied last week into Bed Four.

Additional Notes: Veg bed one's average soil temp at 10cm depth = 4C.
